I don't leave the house without these essential items--my mobile, keys, and wallet are critical to surviving my day. I don't leave the house without these essential items—my mobile, keys, and wallet are critical to surviving my day.

I recently bought a new coffee grinder.

Working from home means I make myself a lot of coffee, and I want that process to be easy—especially since I sometimes feel that I need to drink a cup of coffee before I am capable of brewing myself a cup of coffee. I did a bunch of research on what was available, and I thought about what was important to me and how much I was willing to spend before deciding to buy the Baratza Sette 30.

A coffee enthusiast would consider the Sette 30 to be an affordable grinder and wouldn't think twice about the price. Others would hunt for a less expensive option that still offers the essential functionality of a burr grinder—such as the Cuisinart CBM-18N. (I previously used a Cuisinart grinder, but over time I've grown to desire the additional features and quality of the Sette 30.)

Software purchases are a lot like my coffee grinder purchase. Not everyone needs all the features of enterprise-class software. Sometimes, you just need the essentials. That's why today, SentryOne is announcing…

SQL Sentry Essentials

SQL Sentry Essentials is, well, the essentials that you need for data performance monitoring. We now offer a slimmed down version of our flagship monitoring platform for a slimmed down price. SentryOne SQL Sentry offers the best database performance monitoring in the industry—but not everyone needs all the advanced features. That's why we've created this new edition of SQL Sentry that includes just the essential features. When we distilled down the feature list to just the essence of what non-enterprise customers might need, we came up with the following:

  • Performance Dashboard
  • Top SQL
  • Windows Processes
  • Blocking and Deadlock Analysis
  • Advisory Conditions and Alerting
