Automation is everywhere now. Many of us consider ourselves to be "Lazy DBAs" - meaning that if we can automate it or script it, we will. The more we have to do, the more we try to automate things to make our lives easier. Whether it's the automation of daily reports or automating the installation of software, it seems that everyone is looking to automate anything they can.
One of my responsibilities here at SQL Sentry is the automation of our products. Having used SQL Sentry products for many years at multiple companies, I have my own collection of ideas about what should be included and how it should work, but I'd love to hear your ideas as well.
