SQLSaturday Holland, the Devil in the Detail.

We are well into conference season at SentryOne with SQLSaturday events at the fore here in Europe. Having just returned from SQLSaturday Gothenburg and, prior to that, Oslo where I was joined by Aaron and Jason. We now move on to SQLSaturday Holland.
As one of the largest and a most established SQLSaturday events on the European calandar SentryOne we will be there with three of our own speakers: Aaron Bertrand, Richard Douglas, and John Martin (me). One of our PAC Community Ambasadors will be presenting a session. Finally, SentryOne consulting partners CloudDBA with William Durkin and Andre Kamman will be there as Gold Sponsors.
SentryOne Speakers
Here is a quick rundown on who they are and what they are presenting:
Aaron Bertrand
Aaron is a long-timer here at SentryOne and is currently Product Manager for our Plan Explorer solution. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge of how to write great T-SQL that he is more than happy to share. Aaron will be presenting his session "T-SQL: Bad Habits and Best Practices" at 09:00 on the Saturday. It is a great session to check that you are avoiding some of the key pitfalls when it comes to T-SQL, as well as being great fun.
Richard Douglas
Our UK Based Solutions Engineer, SQL Server guru, and all round nice guy. Rich helps our customers understand what SentryOne does and how it applies to SQL Server. Rich is going to be sharing his experiences on tuning SQL Server Transaction Log performance with his session "Understand the Transaction Log, Unlock Greater Throughput" at 16:00 on Saturday. His session will look at how it works, the configuration options, and architectural choices you can make to really improve your server and application performance.
John Martin
I started out with Rich on the Solution Engineering team, and am now working as part of the Product Management team with Aaron. I am responsible for the SQL Sentry and core monitoring suite here at SentryOne. Over the years I have worked with SQL Server I have always had a keen interest in the High Availability features. This has resulted in me doing many sessions related to Availability Groups or Failover Cluster Instances. I will be presenting one of my Always On sessions looking at "Always On Multi-Site Patterns" just before lunch at 11:30. Covering the high level design patterns and Clustering configuration options you need to understand if you want to build better HA solutions.
SentryOne PAC Community Advisors
SentryOne recently started a Community Advisors program (you can read more in this post from Aaron). We were lucky enough to have Rob Sewell join the program and he will be speaking at SQLSaturday Holland this year. Rob is a PowerShell fanatic and loves presenting about how it can make the life of the Data Professional easier. He will be presenting his "Introduction to Pester - TDD for PowerShell" session, and I have to say that it is really good. If you know PowerShell and want to write better functions, or simply want to start with PowerShell then this is a session for you.
SentryOne Consulting Partners
Here at SentryOne we look to work with the best and brightest in the Data Platform industry to deliver the most value to our customers. Part of that is through the work we do with our partner network. This year, CloudDBA will be Gold Sponsors at SQLSaturday Holland. They are a boutique consulting company with a wealth of SQL Server and Microsoft Data Platform experience. They also happen to use our solutions and know them rather well. If you need any Data Platform advice then these are the guys to speak to. They are also more than capable of helping you if you want to have a closer look at the SentryOne solutions.
So if you are going to be at SQLSaturday Holland, please feel free to come and find us. Whether it is something technical to do with the Microsoft Data Platform, or simply trying to figure out which beer to grab at the end of the day, we would be happy to chat.

John (@SQLDiplomat) is the Product Manager at SentryOne, looking after SQL Sentry and the core monitoring suite. John is also a Microsoft Data Platform MVP with more than a decade of experience with SQL Server and the Microsoft Data Platform. John is an experienced DBA, Developer, and former Microsoft Premier Field Engineer. Having worked with SQL Server for the last decade he has gained a broad understanding of how you can use, and misuse, SQL Server. With the latest PASS Board Election Results, John will be the EMEA representative effective January 1st, 2018.
