Back in the summer of 2015, we decided to help fend off the dog days of summer with our first SQL Vacation. On that road trip, I loaded up my horde of kids into the Wally Wagon and headed north to Chicago, returning south on a slightly different route. And at each stop, I got together with the local PASS chapter to talk about SQL Server.

Like last year, we decided to do a fun riff on the National Lampoon Vacation movies starring Chevy Chase. But in the summer of 2016, we're heading south! I’m going to load up five of my horde into a minivan and make a circuit of the big cities between Nashville and Pensacola, where the sugar-white beaches of the Florida panhandle beckon, speaking at a different SQL Server user group meeting each day we're traveling. The full itinerary is in the table on the right. If you're on the route, I hope to see you at one of the user group meetings!

I’ll be giving away some custom swag featuring this year's graphic...

...and getting #SQLFamily pumped up during the otherwise slower months of summer. In addition, we’re doing a social media contest to encourage everyone to tweet and post about their own #SQLVacation, with prize drawings and, at the end of summer, a grand prize giveaway.

I hope you’ll take part in the social media fun. You can read all of the details about the contest and rules for participation at https://sentryone.com/sql-vacation. If we get a lot of community participation, we'll do a third event next year, maybe toward your neck of the woods!
