Hotfixes for SQL Server 2008 & 2008 R2

Last year, Aaron Bertrand (@AaronBertrand) blogged about SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 4 (10.0.6000) and SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 3 (10.50.6000); making it clear that Microsoft would not be releasing any more service packs or cumulative updates for those branches.
This week, the SQL Server Release Services team released on-demand hotfixes for both versions:
- KB #3047343 (2008 SP4 - 10.0.6526)
- KB #3033860 (2008 R2 SP3 - 10.50.6525)
While the needles on the version numbers move quite a bit, there is actually not a lot to these updates. At the time of writing, these are the only two specific fixes publicly listed:
- KB #3027857 : FIX: Error 832 occurs after you apply update MS14-044 to SQL Server 2008 R2
- KB #3027860 : Error 17066 or 17310 during SQL Server startup
Our recommendation would be to apply these updates if you are on the last service pack branch already; if you are getting ready to regression test the final service pack to prepare for deployment, please include these fixes in your plans.
