Getting Started with the SentryOne Azure Marketplace Image

Thanks for trying out SentryOne! DBAs and IT professionals want easy-to-use tools that solve problems while saving time. That's exactly what SentryOne products provide. Our software provides the highest proven scalability, deepest insight, fastest root-cause troubleshooting, most comprehensive monitoring, and most flexible alerting.

Getting Started

This image is pre-installed with the SentryOne client and SQL Server 2017 Express. To get started, double-click on the SentryOne Client shortcut on the desktop. The first time you load the client, you'll be presented with an option to provide a license. You can click on the "Request Online" button to pull down a trial license automatically.

Using the Setup Wizard

You can learn more about the setup wizard from our online help. You can choose to configure SMTP settings, or skip those for now. You can always set them up later. The setup wizard will also guide you in setting up connections for your first targets.

Getting Connected

We recommend trying out a connection to an Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Data Warehouse target at first. If you've deployed this machine into your existing Azure environment and you have SQL Server running on an Azure VM, you can use one of those servers as a target as well.

Important note: This image uses SQL Server 2017 Express as the repository for the performance data. This works just fine if you are evaluating the product or just want to monitor a few things. It is recommended that if you plan on monitoring more than three targets or instances that you use SQL Server Standard Edition or higher to serve as the repository
